Therapists already familiar with basic EMDR protocols are invited to join a continuing series of EMDR Focus weekend workshops with detailed and practical training in the Attachment-Focused approach to working creatively and effectively with client dysfunctions rooted in developmental experiences in childhood.
Personally endorsed by Dr Laurel Parnell, author of the key EMDR texts Attachment-Focused EMDR and A Therapist’s Guide to EMDR, these two-day workshops are built around teaching, discussion, a full live demonstration of Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) in action, and supervised dyad work including full supervised practicums as both therapist and client.
We’re using the term magic for these UK workshops not, obviously, in the literal sense, but reflecting how almost miraculous EMDR can feel as it roots out emotional distress that other forms of therapy find difficult to reach – as pretty much every EMDR therapist knows.
So, just to reassure, magic in the sense of releasing metaphorical spells cast by past traumatic experience and stored, sometimes for decades, in the client’s nervous system in emotional, cognitive and somatic form.
