This is the third part of the protocol for complex grief and it addresses the future without the loved one.
- If there appears to be significant anticipatory anxiety about some aspect of the future without the loved one, use ‘Flash forward’ Protocol as in Video 007. Strictly speaking this is part of the second prong of the overall EMDR protocol as the anxiety is manifested in the present. In this actual case, this wasn’t an issue.
- If concerns about the future appear to be more about the abilities and/or skills needed to adapt and move forward, develop and install appropriate Future templates. This is what happened in this actual case. Further information about templates including a step-by-step guide can be found in Video 006.
